21. How to Teach Your Child with Special Needs with Dr. Deanna Westedt

Homeschooling your kids with special needs can be challenging mentally, in your schedule and family groove.

Dr. Deanna Westedt is a homeschooling mom and former early elementary educator of over 20 years. In 2019, she earned her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of South Carolina (2019, Columbia, SC). In order to share the strategies she has used to teach hundreds of kids to read, including her own two boys, she created a free YouTube learning channel, Dr. Deanna’s Kindergarten Learning Videos, for ages 3-7.

She also has gone through the school system’s approach to her own kids’ special needs, mental struggles as a parent and adapting to help her kids be successful. Even her doctorate study included research on special needs. She has a mission to help parents through diagnosis, the parent doubts and guilt and helping them see the hope and gift that their kids are!

At the end of this episode you’ll feel more confident and hopeful that you can teach your kids with special needs.

If you want to make sure you can help your child with special needs become successful, this episode is for you!
